A new Asterix adventure that is as fun as the old ones.
The slapstick comedy, the dry humor, the witticisms and the references to popular culture are all firmly in the Asterix tradition. Moreover this is so much better than the late Asterix books written by Uderzo alone.
A simple plot, to beat Caesar’s champion in a chariot race, introduces lots of ethnic groups and the interplay between them – think ‘Asterix and the Gladiator’ or ‘Asterix the Legionary’. And for the race itself think ‘Asterix and the Banquet’.
We also get to see different parts of the ‘Italic’ peninsula (see screen shot below)
A good addition to the Asterix canon.
