5/5 Stars

A book that has no end to its ambition.

A children’s book that deals with life, death, and the destruction of GOD.

Following on from The Subtle Knife and before that the Northern Lights, each book is consistent as a story arc but also stands alone as a single read.

Characters are described well enough to hint at their machinations and motivations under the surface, but never too much to slow the story or the tension. Our evil villains are finally revealed as containing some good.

It is two love stories spread across time and space. Breaking hearts but saving souls. A majestic end to an awesome trilogy.  Can anything come after, or before? There are so many plot lines, how could any sequel or prequel possibly begin?

But maybe it is better to let our minds wonder…how might our favorite characters live their lives after such a momentous adventure…how might they rebuild  the universe?……
